Therapeutic approach
My approach to therapy is one that meets you where you are. In this space we will collaborate from a place of curiosity, explore your individual needs, and work together to formulate a plan that best fits you. In our first meeting, I invite you to sit down with me, ask questions, and get a felt sense for whether we might be a good fit.
The level of connection and the likelihood of positive therapeutic outcomes relies heavily on your level of comfort. I strive to provide a holding space that is calm, comfortable, and compassionate. To provide a space for you to be you.
Below you will find a few of my favorite therapeutic models. I have a love for learning and will continue to train in additional therapeutic modalities in which I may integrate into my practice.
EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that aims to reduce distress and negative beliefs associated with past traumatic or adverse life experiences. If the client is a good fit and feels that EMDR is for them, I will guide them through the phases of EMDR. The reprocessing phase uses bilateral stimulation (i.e., eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to target the maladaptive memory network and reprocess it so that the memory is not as vivid or distressing. For me, this is a very exciting form of therapy. EMDR can aid in processing emotional distress and then moves on to prepare the client for post growth, helping them prepare for future challenges.
Somatic Psychology
I integrate an array of mind+body techniques throughout my practice. I work with clients, starting where they are, and give them tools to get to know their nervous system. We get curious about how the state of our nervous system aids in creating a story about ourselves and the world around us. When our nervous systems are stuck in a state of dysregulation, our bodies are stuck in protection mode. This makes it impossible to connect with self and others. I am passionate about this science of connection and hope to share tools with you that could lead to more connection and aid you in your new chapter.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals or couples addresses problems through the lens of attachment and attachment needs. Together we will explore individual patterns or cycles when in relationship.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
We all have parts or aspects of ourselves. Internal Family Systems (IFS) provides a framework to explore how these parts of ourselves served to protect us early in life. The goal is to get curious about our different parts and the roles they play, befriend the parts of self, and assess how the different roles actually serve us as adults in the present time.
Teletherapy
If remote teletherapy is more your thing and you live in the State of Alabama or Mississippi, let’s go for it.
